All too many times I have heard that you can’t economically recycle batteries. That has been debunked. Redwood Materials recycles car, computer and pretty much anything else batteries extracting the chemicals. But, they made an amazing discovery.
That discovery is that many of the batteries sold or given to them to recycle are actually good. Probably not good enough to put into a car or forklift but still functioning as a battery that can be charged and discharged for years. Note that I said battery, not cell. We are talking about complete batteries.
Armed with that information they have created mini-grid systems composed of assorted recycled batteries, solar panels and concrete blocks. OK, and some controllers to make it all work together. It’s pretty amazing. Check out Brian’s video to see how it works.
