This company currently is offering a small electric van for passenger or delivery use. It’s compact and efficient. They are currently marketing to fleet customers.
While it seems cool, they are developing a larger van using what they call “smart wheel technology”. It is a wheel assembly which includes a wheel motor plus the suspension all in one unit. This may not sound important but it actually is very important. One of the biggest problems with in-wheel motors is the amount of unsprung weight. This results in serious handling issues as it becomes a significant percentage of the vehicle weight.
The video makes so much sense. If that isn’t enough, FedEx is one of their investors which certainly adds credibility.
