Here are the car production numbers for China from January 2025. All cars, not just electrics but car sales in China are around 35% EV. That’s 2.45 million cars in one month.
BYD being on top is no surprise (over half their vehicles are hybrids) but there are some big changes. Xpeng and Nio showed huge gains, impressive but not huge players. The big winners were BYD, SAIC, Geely and Chery.
Big losers were Dongfeng and Tesla. I’m not sure what is happening with Dongfeng (it is state owned) but Tesla’s drop is not surprising with the new Model Y just starting production.
