They are not going to replace Tesla or BYD but they clearly offer an alternative for a company that wants to start building their own cars. Or, more accurately, what to build a car without having to do the hard parts.
CATL is testing their skateboard with a 120 kmh front-end collision with a pole. Way harder that what the typical test is for cars.
