There are two reasons:
- I have put together an Ebook
- The FUD level on EVs has been out of control
First, the book. It is called “Escape to the Tropics”. It’s about how one could move to a suitable place located in the tropics and live a better and more affordable life. It’s base on my personal experiences living in Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Guatemala. If you are interested — even if it is just for amusement — it is available for free on the Monos Media website. You only have to sign up for an account and then download it.
Now, on to the FUD.
- EV sales are not dropping. In fact, EV sales continue to increase all over the world.
- And ICE car is much more likely to catch fire than an EV.
- Battery technology continues to advance.
- EV prices continue to drop — at least partly because of lower battery costs.
If there is a negative side it is that Legacy auto just isn’t serious about EVs. For example, the Tesla Cybertruck is now selling better than the Ford F150. Both Ford and GM have cut way back on their investment in EVs. Stellantis, owner of Dodge and so much more has been on path toward their own demise. VW just can’t get on track. The Chinese subsidiaries of non-Chinese manufacturers and been in a death spiral.
While the US government keeps financially helping Legacy auto, it isn’t working. The most American car company is Tesla and at least the current US administration is doing their best to not help Tesla. My opinion: government involvement is not the solution — not the solution to anything. There are many use cases where EVs are obviously better. If the government backs off, natural selection will fix things.
