What are the issues with EV batteries?
- Capacity
- Charge time
- Low temperature performance
- Life
- Cost
That’s pretty much the list. It’s a universal problem — that is, all EV manufacturers need all of these items addressed and, for US EV manufacturers, being made in the US to qualify for tax credits needs to go into the mix. The problems being universal, all battery manufacturers are addressing these concerns.
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries, particularly the newer ones, have better addressed all of these items with the exception of capacity. While CATL and BYD have been making “better” LFP batteries, it looks like SKon is currently ahead of everyone else in making the best batteries where best means is addressing all the items in the list. The Electric Viking tells us what is going on and it is all good. How good? Watch and see.
