We have all seen the huge horizontal axis wind turbines. Beyond seeing them, many of us think their size is getting out of control. There are quite a few in Costa Rica and also in Nicaragua along Lake Nicaragua. They seem to work find but newer designs really are going crazy. Is there an alternative?
While the Ventum wind turbine is on a totally different scale, they seem practical and, well, sane. They are designed to mount along the edge of industrial buildings and even apartment buildings. Thus, energy production is where energy use is. The design has only one moving part — the rotor. And their design is such that they work in relatively low wind speeds. Undecided tells the story.
