Volvo EX30

Volvo has just announced their smallest electric car, the EX30. It’s a compact EV with a length of 4230 mm, width of 1840 mm and height of 1560 mm high. The distance between the axles is 2650 mm.

There are various battery and motor options. The low-end battery is Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) with a capacity of 49 kWh which can be charged at a rate of 134 kWh charging to 80% in 25 minutes. The built-in AC charger is 11 kWh. The larger battery option is a Lithium Ternary Battery with a capacity of 64 kWh with a slightly faster charging capability.

Prices are in the $35,000 to $50,000 range, depending on battery and motor options. Note that while many people consider Volvo a Swedish company it is actually owned by Geely, a Chinese company who also produces Polestar vehicles.

While it is announced don’t expect to be able to actually buy one until 2024.
